CCSL Updates (Sept 19, 2011)

 1) Our updated constitution has been uploaded to the "Forms" page.  Please feel free to review it prior to league play starting.

2)  Our Master Schedule is nearly complete and ready to be sent off to the Assignor.  Please review it by following THIS LINK.  If corrections are needed please notify myself or Art immediately.

3) As league play quickly approaches, please do not forget these important things:

• All players must have a valid Student or Staff ID and a valid OASA player card.  Failure to provide either one of these cards on game day will result in the player being unable to participate in that specific game.
• There is a $125 league fee for all participating teams.  This fee helps cover league costs for trophies, administrative costs, etc..  The league fee is due October 14th, 2011.  Failure to pay this fee may results in forfeiture of games, points, and could even result in being removed for the CCSL.

4)  Women's Club contacts have been added to the "Contacts" page, and links to Women's club websites have been included on the right side bar under the heading "Women's Division".

Here are the upcoming DEADLINES to prepare for the Fall Season:

• AUG 19th - All scheduling requests are DUE.  Email them to me at ffeddie21@hotmail.com
• SEPT 1st - Fall Schedules will be completed and sent to clubs
• SEPT 9th  - By 11:59pm any and all necessary reschedule are done, completed, and turned back into the league for approval.  Any reschedules done after this date will result in a $20 fine for each club involved, per each occurrence.

About the FALL SEASON
The first week of games for most clubs is tentatively set for OCTOBER 1st/2nd.
Final games must be complete by the weekend of December 3rd/4th.

OASA player cards
OASA player cards are still required by the league.  Any player wishing to compete with a CCSL team must have a card by the first game.  No card, No Play, No exceptions!

04/24/10 - 09/10 CCSL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Southern Oregon faced off against Portland State in the 09/10 CCSL Championship game.

Southern took an early lead in the first half off of a set piece.

But Portland State battled back and found some good run of play during the second half.

With Portland knocking at the door, Southern found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Both teams fought hard, but in the end it was Southern Oregon University that lifted the cup and was crowned CCSL Champions!

Congrats to SOU on their victory! 

Also, congrats to Matt Bakken of WOU for being awarded the CCSL Golden Boot!

04/19/10 Championship game is set!!!! Portland State will take on Southern Oregon
The game will be held at Willamette University (Sparks Field) this coming Saturday, April 24th. Kick off is 6pm.

Two trophies will be handed out: The Golden Boot award for leading goal scorer and the CCSL Championship trophy to be presented to the winning team.

All teams and players in the CCSL are encouraged to attend the event and make this Championship game something to remember!

Both Portland State and Southern Oregon booked their place in the final with wins over top table rivals UPFC and U of O respectively.

04/06/10 Championship race heats up as Lewis and Clark and Oregon drop points, and Southern, PSU, and UPFC score goals galore.

03/13/10 Lewis and Clark remains in the Championship hunt with 1-0 over Mt. Angel
Lewis and Clark hosted Mt. Angel, and their second half goal proved enough for the 3 points they needed to stay in the running for a shot at the Championship game. UPFC and PSU are also still in the hunt. The next few weeks will be huge for those 3 teams.

03/06/10 First set of results are in!
Lewis and Clark edged past Reed FC 1-0 last weekend, but Reed rebounded this weekend to come from behind and beat Willamette 2-1.

Willamette was coming off of a tough 4-1 loss to UPFC.


03/01/10 PLAY RESUMES AS THE CCSL SPRINGS INTO THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON
Spring schedules are close to being finalized and the North Division has already begun game play. Check back often for news and updates from around the league!!!

12/08/09 Final game of Fall ends 4-4 after a dramatic comeback almost saw the Wolves steal 3 points from OSU
WOU traveled to Corvallis with nothing to lose. With 1 point out of the last 6 games, the Wolves had their backs to the wall. The two teams had a fairly balanced first half, which saw OSU create more opportunties and hold the advantage at 2-1. The opening munites of the second half saw OSU quickly jump to a 4-1 lead, as the Wolves looked to stay true to recent form. However, the Wolves were not finished. Over the last 20 minutes the Wolves pressed hard. First, midfielder Christopher Cramer curled a 20 yd shot past the OSU keeper to begin the revival. A few minutes later midfielder Javier Pineda hit a half volley from 25 yds out that dipped just under the bar. The Wolves looked like a team inspired when Cramer's corner kick was fumbled by the advancing keeper only to be nodded home by Pineda. In the closing mintues the Wolves almost let the game go as OSU looked for a winner, and then nearly found a winner themselves as a easy tap in was missed and 2 other chances found the cross bar.

11/27/09 North Division finishes Fall schedule, begins winter break. South Division will wrap up next weekend.
Sorry for the delay, it has been a crazy couple of weeks. Results page is updated with all the info I have, standings reflect all published results. This winter we will be recalculating our Goal Scorer stat to make sure it is accurate and updated table will be published here.

11/08/09 Battle for lead in North ends scoreless
A win for Lewis and Clark could have put them even with UPFC at the top of the table, with a game in hand, and put their fate in the their own hands. Instead, the two teams battled to a scoreless draw at the University of Portland campus. UPFC maintains their 3 point lead but Lewis and Clark still has a game in hand going into the winter break. Both teams will need to be wary of a strong PSU team that will surely factor into the equation come spring.

11/07/09 Lewis and Clark fend of Mt. Angel, Southern nets 3 vs Linn-Benton, and the Wolves win friendly vs Reed
Lewis and Clark had a successful trip to Mt. Angel Seminary, netting 3 goals and leaving with 3 points as they won the match 3-1.

Southern Oregon continued their push toward the top of South Division with a 3-0 home victory over the LBCC Runners.

WOU and Reed met in a wet and muddy friendly match in Monmouth. The home side was able to find the net 4 times and conceded only 1 goal. The Wolves beat Reed 4-1 but the results do not factor into to either teams league standings.

11/01/09 Willamette and Portland State battle out 1-1 draw at Sparks Field
Willamette University hosted Portland State on Sunday. Though Willamette took the early lead and held it at half time, Portland State was able to find the equalizer in the second hald. Neither team was able to find the winner.

10/31/09 Reed scores 3, holds Mt. Angel
Coming off a three-week layoff because of fall break, Reed FC got out of the gates early with two goals in the first 17 minutes, then held off a persistent Mt. Angel counterattack strategy to notch a 3-0 victory in the Halloween day match at the seminary in Mt. Angel.
Javed Parkes of Reed scored twice in the game, and Dean Wenstrand added the other goal for the men in maroon. Reed FC had several excellent chances to add to the score throughout the first and second halves, but instead saw several shots glance off the crossbar or narrowly miss the net from close range. Mt. Angel, to its credit, played to its strength by sending long balls from the back toward the Reed goal. But a steady Reed defensive line was able to defuse the strategy by winning most challenges in the air and keeping the fast Mt. Angel strikers at bay. A goal by Parkes in the 90th minute, his second, put the game away for the visitors.

Up North, Portland State hosted UPFC. After a scoreless first half both teams found the back of the net but neither could find a winner as the match ended 1-1.

10/25/09 Civil War stalemate ends 2-2
University of Oregon traveled to Corvallis, their second day on the road in a row, to take on fierce rivals Oregon State. 90 mins and four goals wasn't enough to find a winner for this derby day match -- the Civil War ended in a 2-2 draw.

10/24/09 UO beats WOU 2-0
After the two teams played to a scoreless first half, UO was able to capitalize on a penalty kick that was awarded when one of their players was brought down in the box in the 65th min. Late in the game the Ducks were able to get another in the back of the net when the Wolves failed to clear a ball that bounced to the back post for an easy finish. The Wolves had a their chances in the 2nd half as well, but were unable to convert.

10/21/09 Cards and Goals galore!
Many players were able to find the back of the net this weekend and more than a couple saw Red. On Saturday, Willamette University defeated Mt. Angel 5-0 and 10 man LBCC beat WOU 4-0 --SOU and UO had the closest match which UO ended up winning 1-0. On Sunday, COCC had three players ejected during their 3-1 defeat to LBCC.
LBCC and UO are currently leading the table for the Southern Division with 6 pts each, while up North UPFC has a clear lead with 13 pts after 5 games.


10/10/09 COCC outlasts Wolves' late surge to win 3-2.
COCC came out the aggressor, playing a physical match and doing a good job of preventing Western from developing any sort of rhythm for long stretches. COCC was able to take the first half lead when #1 was given too much time and space from 25 yds out and put his shot in the back of the net. Westen rued missed opportunities such as a header off a corner kick in the 45th minute that ended up wide of the post. Western possessed the ball much of the second half but COCC was able to get two more goals against the run of play, #1 converting another long range effort. It wasn't until the 80th minute, when COCC brought in a back-up keeper, that Western was able to capatilize on their chances. A 30 yd strike from Matt Bakken (#10) found the back of the net first. A few minutes later Javier Pineda (#20) headed home. COCC brought back in the first choice keeper and defended intensely for the final few minutes as WOU failed to convert 2 more chances on wide open goals.


10/04/09

WOU rallies late, draw 3-3 at SOU
Trailing 2-1 in the 80th minute WOU looked resigned to a loss as SOU comfortably controlled possession. In the 83rd minute WOU forward Matt Bakken (#10) capitalized on a mis-handle from the SOU keep to tie the game. Then in the 88th minute midfielder Cesar Antunez (#3) shook off two defenders to slot home another goal for the Wolves. Unfortunately for Western, possession remained in favor of SOU and the Raiders were able to tie the game in stoppage time with a blast from just outside the area.

Snow piles up on field, forces COCC and LBCC to postpone their game.

UPFC continued to soar in league play with a comfortable victory Saturday afternoon.

09/27/09 UPFC tops Reed FC 2-0



Just a week after their contentious match at Prusynski Pitch at the University of Portland, Reed FC and UPFC met again on the natural grass of Reed College. Although a strong east wind impacted play and a setting sun created difficulties for the players late in the game, the match this time was not marred by the hard tackles and caution cards seen in the first meeting of these two teams. With the wind at their back in the first half, UPFC dominated the run of play with crisp and efficient passing, keeping the Reed side pinned on their side of the pitch. Reed FC valiantly tried to survive the first half unscathed, but gave up a goal in the 34th minute to #17 Martin Nelson of UPFC. In spite of their strong and persistent attack, UPFC entered halftime only up 1-0. Hoping the change of ends would aide their cause, Reed FC mounted a stronger offensive game in the second half, and managed to challenge the UPFC keeper on a couple of occasions. But Reed was not able to overcome the strong UPFC defense, and the UP offense was still able to get some dangerous shots on goal in spite of the wind. Thomas Biba of Reed was once again strong in goal, stopping or deflecting several UPFC shots on goal. But in the 61st minute, #20 Robert Lansche broke through the middle for a second goal that iced a 2-0 victory for UPFC. Two yellow card cautions were issued during the game: #4 Tyler Thompson of UPFC (dissent) and #7 Teddy Hay of Reed (late tackle).

09/26/09 Reed FC survives mishaps, beats Mt. Angel 3-2.


The weather was sunny and warm for the match between Reed College and Mt. Angel Seminary at the Steele Street pitch in southeast Portland.
Throughout the first half, Reed FC dominated the play but was unable to score despite several excellent chances. Mt. Angel played a waiting game, springing counterattacks when the opportunities presented themselves. Mt. Angel were finally rewarded in the 28th minute when the Reed keeper mishandled a cross and saw the ball slip out of his hands and into the goal. Finding themselves down 1-0 despite controlling the play, Reed now had to push to get the equalizer before half. A handball on the goal line provided Reed what they needed - a penalty kick by Madison Stewart to tie the score 1-1 in the 40th minute. In the second half, Reed jumped ahead on a powerful header by forward Kent Schultz off a corner kick in the 50th minute. Moments later, Reed extended their lead to 3-1 with a skillful solo effort by Madison Stewart from the right side. The comfort of a two-goal lead was shattered by the awarding of a penalty kick to Mt. Angel in the 80th minute on a tackle from behind, but Reed held on over the last 10 minutes to take the 3-2 victory.

09/20/09 Goals galore as Lewis and Clark squeeze past Willamette 4-3




09/19/09 Pilots scrap for 2-0 win over 10 man Reed College

UPFC played host to Reed College at Prusynski Pitch on the University of Portland campus. In what can only be descibed as a physical and scrappy match, the two teams fought out a scoreless first half. Emotions came to a head 5 minutes into the second half as Reed were reduced to 10 men after a straight red card was dealt for a rough tackle from behind, leaving UP captain Pablo Dipascuale injured. UP was able to take advantage of the man advantage and topped Reed 2-0 with goals from Randy Iriarte (60th min) and Matthew Schneidmiller (79th min).

09/19/09 Willamette rebounds with a 4-0 victory over Mt. Angel


09/14/09 Late winner lifts Lewis and Clark over Reed College, 1-0.

In a game that could have gone either direction, Lewis and Clark struck a solid 80th minute shot past Reed keeper, Thomas Biba, into the right corner of the net. Both teams had strong chances to score earlier in the match. Lewis & Clark had its best chance late in the first half with a break away that was snuffed by the fine save of keeper Mark Jaycox. Reed countered with a breakaway by Anthony Odro who lofted a shot over the charging LC keeper, only to see the ball rise over the crossbar. Both teams played an aggressive but clean game, as no cards were issued even though it was another game in a long rivalry between the two schools.


09/14/09 Pilots win opener 4-0 during visit to Sparks Field


Willamette University hosted the University of Portland Saturday afternoon but were unable to find the back of the net, while the Pilots were able to get all three points from their first game of the season.

League play kicks off this weekend!
Reed College hosts Lewis and Clark in Portland, while the Pilots of UP make their first ever trip to Sparks Field to take on expansion team Willamette University in Salem.

CCSL looks to affiliate with the Oregon Adult Soccer Association
As the league continues to grow and improve it's professionalism the issue of league affiliation has been an ongoing topic of discussion. It now looks like the CCSL will look to join the OASA sometime this winter while the league is on it's winter break. This will mean the league will have a Referee Assignor by time the season resumes in the Spring!

The Oregon Adult Soccer Association is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation organized to promote adult soccer in Oregon. OASA is affiliated with the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)

West Coast Soccer Association
The West Coast Soccer Association is committed to becoming a nationally recognized soccer related organization and league. The WCSA hopes to unite Collegiate club soccer leagues throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. In doing so the WCSA hopes to establish better representation of these states within the NIRSA NCCS regional and National tournaments.

About Us

The Cascade Collegiate Soccer League offers club soccer teams from various Universities and Colleges around Oregon the opportunity to participate in an organized, competitive format. The Fall Championship season is made up of 10 games with the point leader from each division crowned champion.  Along with fighting for the championship, teams also fight for promotion and relegation. In the Spring, teams from both division get placed in a tournament bracket and vie for the CCSL Cup.  Upon the completion of the Championship and Cup seasons, select schools continue to participate in a series of tournaments for the remainder of the school year.

The CCSL has been around for many years in one form or the other. Approximately 6 years ago it was reformatted into the current format. As of 2010, the league has expanded to 13 teams in total, divided into two divisions (Premier and Second).
